Today Culture Vultures goes up close and personal with the “Big Why” behind Florence Brokowski-Shekete’s work – her books, her keynotes and her commitment to intercultural communication and education.
It all started with a question many of us know: “Where are you from?” – and the visible surprise that often followed her answer. What might have seemed like small talk revealed something bigger. It showed Florence how much bias, assumption and uncertainty still shape our conversations about identity. Instead of retreating, she chose to lean in, creating space for dialogue, insight and learning, so that others might better understand both her path and their own.
Her presence on social media reflects that same intention. It is not only about promoting her own work, but about amplifying others, conducting interviews and consistently supporting the message of diversity, belonging and inclusion.
What question or experience has shaped your own “Why” – and how has it influenced the work you do today?
